How to Refurnish Your Urban Terrace

Many people who live in cities have terraces or balconies, but they don’t know what to do with them. If you live in an urban area and have some outdoor spaces that you would like to better utilize, this guide can help you refurnish the area and make it more comfortable and appealing for you and your family.

Refurnishing a Terrace

If your terrace or balcony is large enough, you’ll definitely want to consider putting some greenery there. Even small balconies can look great with flowers or plants.

Potted flowers such as geraniums, cosmos or roses do well on urban terraces. If it’s vegetables and herbs you’re after, consider creating a small vegetable garden by buying large planters and planting seedlings for baby spinach, kale, arugula or onions. Tomatoes in all forms can also thrive in large pots, and sweet and hot peppers do well in pots too.

In terms of herbs, the most used culinary herbs are sweet basil, Thai basil, spearmint, mint, oregano, cilantro, flat leaf parsley, chives and thyme. But there are hundreds of other varieties that you might also consider.

Finally, once you have some greenery on your terrace, make sure that you have some seating so that you can enjoy it. A large table for breakfasts, lunches and dinners is always a good idea, and you’ll need chairs as well. If you have enough room, consider putting out a lounge chair too. If you live in a warm climate, you might also consider a large umbrella to shield yourself from the harsh UV rays of the sun.
